This policy explains the rules and practices that apply to Westbrook's website and organizational research-material services. It should be read together with the other Westbrook website policies.

Technologies covered

Cookies are small files or identifiers placed on or read from a browser or device. Similar technologies may include local storage, software development kits, pixels, tags, and server-side event tools. This Notice covers technologies used by Westbrook and by providers acting through the website.

Necessary technologies

Necessary technologies may support page delivery, load balancing, security, bot and fraud prevention, authentication, session continuity, account settings, cart contents, checkout, policy acceptance, and privacy preferences. These functions may be required to provide a service requested by the user and may not operate correctly if blocked.

Analytics and advertising

Optional analytics may help measure site performance and understand aggregate use. Advertising or cross-context tracking may be used only if Westbrook intentionally adopts it after legal and vendor review. Before enabling any optional technology, Westbrook must identify the provider, name, purpose, data received, retention period, recipients, state-law classification, contract, and available controls.

Optional technologies must remain disabled unless and until the website displays an accurate preference tool and honors applicable consent, opt-out, and Global Privacy Control requirements. Rejecting optional technologies must be as straightforward as accepting them where consent is required. A user must be able to revisit a preference.

Current cookie inventory

wb_session: first-party, HTTP-only account session cookie; expires after 30 days. cart:v1: browser local storage for the cart; retained until cleared in the cart or browser. wb_intended_use_ack: browser local storage for the intended-use notice; renewed after 90 days or a notice version change. Expiry of the notice does not itself delete the stored record.

The site loads typefaces from Google Fonts, which receives connection information such as IP address and browser request details. Optional first-party analytics are described below; no advertising tags or third-party analytics are included in this website package. Payment services may process additional information under their own notices.

Managing preferences

Users may manage available choices through the privacy controls made available on the website and may adjust browser settings. Browser controls may not remove server-side records and may impair necessary site features. Where applicable, Westbrook will recognize legally required browser-based opt-out signals. Default Configuration

Until optional technologies have completed review and a legally appropriate choice mechanism is operational, Westbrook's approved configuration is limited to technologies necessary for security, sessions, account access, cart operation, checkout, and preference storage. Website code should block optional tags before consent where consent is required.

Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control

A browser's Do Not Track setting does not have a uniform legal meaning. Where applicable law requires recognition of an opt-out preference signal such as Global Privacy Control, Westbrook will process the signal for the browser or device from which it is received and apply any legally required account-level effect.

Changes to Technologies

Adding a plugin, embedded video, map, chat service, social button, analytics library, advertising pixel, or payment feature may add tracking technology. Westbrook reviews such changes before deployment and updates this notice and controls when the change affects users.

Policy Administration

Westbrook may revise this policy prospectively when its website, products, controls, or legal obligations change. The effective date identifies the current version. Questions about this policy may be sent to [email protected]. This policy does not authorize a product, transaction, or use prohibited by law or another Westbrook policy.

Website analytics preferences

Optional first-party analytics are collected only after you choose Allow analytics. You can decline or withdraw future collection through Privacy preferences. Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track signals disable collection. This choice does not affect account or shopping functionality.

With permission, we record page paths without query strings, shopping events, a random session identifier that expires after 30 minutes of inactivity, screen-size device category, referring domain, and country code when supplied by a configured trusted hosting proxy. We do not store IP addresses, exact location, form contents, or account identifiers in analytics. Account and admin routes are excluded. These records are used to measure website activity and improve the site; no third-party analytics service receives them.

The analytics choice is stored in your browser as wb_analytics_choice_v1 until you change it or clear browser storage. The random session is stored in session storage as wb_analytics_session. Analytics event records are deleted after 90 days during collection or scheduled maintenance. Opting out stops future analytics collection; it does not automatically erase previously collected records. Analytics reporting covers consenting activity only and is separate from order, payment, and account records.
